Step 1 is Now Pass/Fail
Since Step 1 became pass/fail, Step 2 CK is now your single most important exam score as an IMG. Programs rely on it as their primary academic filter.

260 Score + Zero USCE Can Lose to 245 + Strong Rotations
Programs want to see that you can function in the U.S. healthcare system. A high score with no U.S. clinical exposure is a weaker application than a solid score with genuine hands-on experience.

Step 3 Strategy for IMGs
Step 3 is not required to apply. But for H-1B visa applicants, or IMGs with a graduation year gap, passing Step 3 before applying demonstrates currency and commitment to the field.
